 Old Church

Old Gui-ob Church Ruins or the Catarman Church Ruins are ruins of adobe walls of the church, belfry and convent that are testimonials to the wrath of the earthquake and eruption of Mt. Vulcan in 1871.

They are still conducting masses on this church for the people near the place. At the back of this church, there is a lighthouse and a century old tree that stands bravely. This untouched gigantic tree lives in Camiguin.

Mantigue Island

Go to Mantigue Island, this island is surrounded by luminous white sand. This place is good for swimming, snorkeling and diving; you will see the brilliant beauty of the underwater species you can’t imagine.  People here are very warm and friendly. You will feel that you own this paradise!

Sunken Cemetery

The large cross in Camiguin serves as the marker of the “sunken cemetery” literally buried underwater after Mt. Vulcan erupted in 1870’s. This is one of the most unique diving spot as the corals covered all the gravestones beneath.

The best time to go here is waiting for the sunset; as there is a beautiful reflection of the sun towards the huge cross. This place is the most visited in Camiguin.

This place also wealthy in falls, their most famous one is called “Bomod-ok” , before you reach this falls you have to walk almost 3kms going down the foot of the mountain and passes by the some villages. Your strength will be tested in this falls as you will burn lots of fats before you reach it. But all the pains and sweat will be worth the wait once you are there.

Another falls they are now promoting is the “Pongas Falls”. This falls consists of 5 falls in one. 2 big and 3 small falls. Same as Bomod-ok you will trek this place for almost 1-2hrs before you reach it. You can play around w/ this one, if you want to dive you can go on the upper part of the falls but if you want to sit and relax you can dip into the smaller falls.

The best month you will go there will be “BER” months till February because the big splash of the water falls will be overwhelming. The water temperature is negative and once you plunge into it you feel the freezing point of the water. You can stay there as long as your body can overcome the coldness.

Hanging Coffins, sagada
Hanging Coffins
In added to the hot spots, “Hanging coffins” also marked in Sagada. This is the traditional way of burying their love ones and ancestors. Literally, they hanged the coffins to the edge of the cliff or mountains or sometimes it can be seen inside the caves. The higher the coffins, the higher the position of that person in their society, to show respect for what they’ve done.

These places are very prosperous in mountains, Mt Ampacao and Malboro Hills are some of them that are good in camping and picnic for the whole family and barkadas. These places are very safe but you should trek it up to the top for you to feel the breeze of the cold and fresh air. You will realize how beautiful the mountains are and how God created this huge triangular shaped thing on earth proportionately.
